MS013 Glendinning - Halifax

Minimum Bid: $400

Range:$600-800

Sold: $700

This Glendinning torpedo is the "Genuine Soda Water" variant. This bottle is in excellent condition. There is a 1/4" flake off the blob where is meets the neck. I suspect this is an in-manufacturing flaw. A few fleabites off the blob edge. This bottle has been tumbled clean.

Minimum Bid: $400

Range:$600-800

Sold: $550

This Glendinning torpedo is the "Genuine Lemonade" variant. This bottle is in excellent condition. When the blob lip was applied, the glass cracked from cooling, giving the blob a crazed look. This is not damage, but simply the way the bottle was made. 1/4" bruise on the blob edge as well as a 1/8" chip. Minor stuff. The embossing on this one is a bit weak. This bottle has been tumbled clean.

MS015 McLaughlin - Toronto

Minimum Bid: $200

Range:$300-400

Sold: $200

A scarce J.J. Mclaughlin Toronto torpedo with labels front and shoulder. The labels appear to be original to the bottle but it is hard to say for sure. The blob top has a large chip that has been filled with resin. Otherwise the bottle is in really good condition with a nice surface and just a few imperfections. The labels are certainly old and of the right period for this bottle. Without knowing its provenance, we cannot guarantee these labels belong to this bottle.

Sold: $300

A second early Hamilton from J. Webb. This one is marked: J. Webb, Manufacturer of, Double Soda Water, To Her Majesty, Islington, Near London. Note this one says "To Her Majesty", so the bottle dates from after Victoria took the throne in 1837. From the style, I would suggest it was made not long after. Great shape to this one, quite plump. Overall stain and a few light rubs from burial. Bit of roughness on the underside edge of the rolled lip. Embossing is light but legible. A good candidate to tumble.

MS023 Chapman & Jose - Geraldton

Minimum Bid: $150

Range:$200-300

Sold: $325

A most unusual torpedo from Chapman & Jose, Geraldton Australia. This partnership was established in 1909, so this is a relatively late bottle for the style. A rare torpedo that has sold over $3000 in mint condition. Many damaged examples have been found and repaired. This one is damaged, but has no restoration. A dug bottle that exhibits some heavy case wear and staining. 1" crack in the blob down into the neck and a 1/4" chip off the lip edge. The glass is a most unique colour, being somewhere between a deep amethyst and cobalt. So dark the crack in the top is visible only in strong light.
