Quebec Ginger Beers
GB057 Milloy Montreal Collection
Minimum Bid: $750
Range:$1200-1500
Sold: $1050
Sometimes a collection is worth more than its individual pieces. This is such a case. The consignor bought, many years ago, a collection of eight different Milloy ginger beers from Montreal. Could there really be eight distinct variations? Yes - and here they are all in one lot. First photo top: left blob is in excellent shape with a few fine flakes off the blob edge and a sm scape inside blob edge; the only crown top middle is near mint with one 1/8” tiny flake off the lip edge; right blob is near mint with a fine ¼” line in the blob front. Second photo middle: left blob is in excellent shape with a ¼” flake off the blob inside edge and a thin ¼” base edge separation mark; blob middle has a 2 ½” hairline right side; blob right is excellent with a ¼” flake off the blob inside edge. The third photo is of two bottles with coloured transfers. Left one has a 1” crack in the blob right side, other minor damage to the blob edge, and a heavy 1” base edge separation mark front right. The right one has a heavy chunk out of the blob right side and a couple of ¼” base edge separation marks. I have no provenance, but I would not be surprised if these came out of the old pop works or a single dump find.
GB058 Lime Gurds - Montreal
Minimum Bid: $500
Range:$800-1000
Sold: $650
The lime top Gurds from Montreal is the Holly Grail of Canadian Gurds bottles. Not only is it rare as they come, the colour is unique among Canadian ginger beer bottles. Likely a product of the Medalta Potteries. This bottle is notoriously hard to find in good shape. This one is near mint with a bit of rust on the left side. Properly cleaned, it would be mint. Best one we have had in a long while!
GB059 Consumers Montreal
Minimum Bid: $200
Range:$300-400
Sold: $250
The Consumers Ginger Beer Co is one of Quebec's best ginger beers with its terrific lion trademark. A rare bottle that is hard to find in good shape. This one is excellent with some fine hairlines along the blob inside edge and a few flea bites off the shoulder. One of the best I have seen.
GB060 Christin - Montreal
Minimum Bid: $200
Range:$300-400
Sold: $200
A great example of the J. Christin & Cie ginger beer from Montreal. A Medalta Potteries made bottle. Mint. Best possible example.
GB061 Rousseau - Trois Rivieres
Minimum Bid: $150
Range:$200-300
Sold: $275
A fine example of the J.C. Rousseau & Cie from Trois-Rivieres Quebec. This is the "Ginger Ale" variety. 2" fine hairline shoulder right front. Otherwise excellent. This is a real clean example of a scarce bottle.

Range:$100-150
Sold: $110
A mint example of the C. Robillard & Cie Montreal. Buchan Portobello mark.
